The facilities management sector is set for a boost over the next eight years as a 19 per cent increase in the number of positions across all occupations is forecast.
The figures have been cited by the skills advisory and training body for the facilities management sector, Asset Skills, in its latest report.
As part of the research Asset Skills looked into the skills future facilities managers will need and cited management and leadership, energy management, communication, customer service and contract management skills among them.
The body also investigated the main drivers for the increase in facilities management jobs, which included:
- Government regulation
- Demographic and population change
- Environmental change
- Economics and globalisation
- Technological change
- Changing values and identities
- Changing customer demand.
According to the latest report, England is expected to have the most significant increase in workplace jobs and managers and professional occupations are set to account for 59 per cent of the new positions in the sector.
